I remember thinking a few weeks back how I was sad I would miss any chance of snow in Washington. Last winter it came mid-January and it was really mild by February. Washington snow is some of the best snow I've ever seen. It doesn't stay too long and it is fluffy and beautiful on everything it touches. The whole world shuts down when it falls and it brings a gentle feeling as it piles higher. My favorite part is the way it sits on the trees, painting the outdoors a brilliant white.
I told my Mom we have her to thank as the snow has now followed her back to Nova Scotia. We spent half of her visit earlier this month, snug in our house eating warm bowls of soup and watching movies. It wasn't exactly the visit I had in mind but considering the girls caught colds during our journey here, it was pretty good timing. When we did get outside we bundled up like true Canadians and walked to the deserted main road. You rarely see a car in weather like this. Isla enjoyed the snow in dreamland while the other two crunched their boots through the snow, occasionally stopping to make a snow angel or complain about having wet mittens. They might not be as Canadian as I thought after all.. It was a sweet little winter hurrah but now we are ready for warmer weather. Thanks for taking it home with you Mom!
