The weather must be playing an April Fools joke on us after how beautiful it was a few weeks ago. Just when I thought we were skipping the cold, grey, rainy days they have returned and I'm starting to forget what warm sunshine feels like. It's not that the rain is a bad thing. The hours in the day just start to feel longer when you are cooped up inside and the laundry piles are endless from kids changing out of wet, muddy clothes. I appreciate the girls desire to wear clean clothes but a few rain drops will dry (!!!)
Before the clouds settled in we spent a warm afternoon at Multnomah Falls while we had family in town. The trails are pretty kid friendly, flat and beautiful. There are waterfalls to see, a bridge to hike up to and plenty of exploring to do. Knowing I wanted a picture of the girls with the bridge behind them, I agreed to let Sophia wear her new dress on our walk. She picked out sandals to go with it but thinking she wouldn't last in those shoes, I threw boots in the stroller just incase. I'm not sure why when I thought about the boots I didn't think about the potential of mud but an hour later Sophia slipped in the biggest mud puddle and suddenly saying yes to wearing that cute dress was not my best idea. Fortunately, I've been working hard to have more Mom-patience for mess and I only complained a few times, quietly to myself as I scrubbed that stain out for hours later that night. There is no shortage of stains to remove around these parts.
