I love hosting easter dinner at our house. I love spring flowers, an excuse to use a lot of white because it feels so fresh and ham dinner my favorite holiday meal. For a second year in a row we had my in-laws and sister-in-law's family over to eat and they were the perfect company. There was lots of delicious food, the kids had a blast running around together and even the rain couldn't stop us from doing an easter egg hunt in the yard. I confess my orange sauce and my jello salad were both a bit of a flop but overall everything else was great. There wasn't a drop of martinelli's left in the house when everyone left. Lucy gave it her all as the celebration died down.
As for the easter egg hunt, it was a classic Washington egg hunt in rain coats and boots. Sophia was a pro, wanting to collect eggs for both her and Lucy. Lucy on the other hand couldn't understand that she needed to pick up her eggs and wandered around the yard like a lost sheep. It wasn't until we told her it was time to go inside that she had a meltdown crying "eggggggs outside." Apparently she was really into the hunt and we had no idea. Once we got her inside and she saw the treats inside her eggs she had a creme egg in one fist and was using her other hand to drop small change into her piggy bank. She is a wild card, that Lu and I wouldn't have her any other way. To wrap up our easter the girls watched "Buttons and Rusty Meet the Easter Bunny" while some of the adults played games. Anyone else remember that movie? The very best.
