Oregon Coast in Spring

There are weeks where I feel like doing absolutely nothing, spending days at home and not even getting dressed and then there are weeks like this one where I feel motivated to get up and go, living each day to the fullest. Every Sunday morning while I'm pumping Isla's bottle for church the girls and I watch The Bucketlist Family's new video. The girls love watching their kids explore and I love
the way they inspire others not to limit what you do because you have children. They make travelling with kids seem so easy. As I sat there watching the video last Sunday, I felt inspired to make my own bucket list for the week of places to go and things I wanted to do with the kids. I am definitely one of those people who are motivated by crossing items off a list.

When I saw the warm weather on the coast I knew the beach had to be on our bucket list for the week. More often than not I find the beaches on the Oregon coast a bit cool but the temperatures looked promising. We had the absolute perfect beach day. There was hardly any wind. The sun was shining. The tide was out and it wasn't super crowded. The air was warm and comfortable and having my mother-in-law come with us meant extra hands to make the whole day relaxing. The girls played in the sand, collected shells; we built a sand castle, dipped our toes in the ocean and had a picnic style lunch. The funniest moment of the whole day was when Sophia got unexpectedly knocked over by a wave while I was chasing a runaway Lucy. She was wading in some shallow water when a wave came out of nowhere and knocked her fully under. My mother-in-law pulled her up and she looked like she had rolled her whole body in sand. It was caked in her hair and I think we'll be finding sand in her ears for the rest of the year. She happily changed out of her bathing suit after that and back into her Bumbelou dress, quite possibly her favorite dress of summer.

It was also a significant day for Isla. Not only was it her first beach day but it was also her first time dipping her toes in the Pacific Ocean. She wasn't phased by the cold at all and wiggled her feet around as they felt salt water for the first time. She loved the feeling of the sand and breathing in the fresh, warm beach air. She cuddled right in for a nap and I was in absolute heaven. We all left the coast that day a little sun-kissed, bellies full of ice cream and feeling relaxed. I forgot just how good the beach is for the soul.
