Bed time is a bit of a wild card over here. It doesn't seem to matter what sort of routine we run when the end of the day rolls around, Sophia always has an excuse of why going to bed is not her priority. Usually a trip to the bathroom for number two is her first excuse, followed by a "Mom is it Friday yet? can I sleep in your bed?" I let her sleep in bed with me on Friday's and she thinks its the best. This week her main excuse has been she doesn't feel well. Whether it's growing pains or belly pains, it's always something.
In an effort to be less impatient, I've been going upstairs to talk to her when the complaining begins. It's amazing how cuddling in bed, talking about our day and singing songs solves all of her problems. I try often to remind myself how easy it is to fix their problems at this age. My girls whole heartedly believe that kisses fix everything, broccoli makes their hair grow and strawberries make their eyes sparkle. Broccoli is a request at every meal now. Tonight as I climbed into Sophia's bed next to her, our conversation went from talking about our day to picking her future husband. She loves to dream about being married and being a Mommy someday. She reminded me tonight that I need to help her pick the boy she will marry. I told her to find someone happy and kind. I told her to travel the world first and go on lots of adventures. I told her I hope she'll always be my best friend and she said she would. After kissing her and hugging her a million times (because she always wants more) I whispered in her ear that whatever boy she marries will be the luckiest boy on earth. She smiled and before I could even go back downstairs, she was asleep. That girl has a heart of gold. She will make the best little mini mama one day. Her and Lucy already have the pumping and feeding the baby part down.
