The doughnuts got me again. You'd never know I am not a doughnut-lover based on the amount of gourmet doughnut shops I've been to. I don't know if it's how pretty they are or some unknown inward hope that I will eat one that will change my life but I keep going back for more. My sister told me about a new shop in Halifax, Vandal Doughnuts and it was the Homer's Odyssey that sucked me in. I don't even care for The Simpsons but something about that classic pink doughnut brought back all the childhood nostalgia for me. Anyone else sneakily watch that show when their Mom wasn't around to stop them?
I thought we were being smart going right after lunch but we got there just in time to get the last pink doughnut. Between Brittany, the girls and I we also tried the boston creme, chocolate almond, nutella, pacman, tide-pod (because apparently eating the real thing is a thing these days..) and UFO-nut. I ended up with the tide-pod which was filled with lemon goodness. I have to say, they fry their dough and it was one of the best doughnuts I've ever had. I was pleasantly surprised. The girls mostly just licked the icing off their doughnuts but it was worth the trip to get out and get some fresh air. It's little memories like these that I hope the girls hold onto forever. Nothing fancy, super simple and happy together.
